Overview

On October 7, 2023, Hamas militants launched a large-scale terror attack on Southern Israel, killing more than 1,200 civilians and taking approximately 240 hostages. In retaliation, the Israeli military launched sustained air, sea, and land assaults into Gaza, killing tens of thousands of Palestinians and displacing over 1.7 million people — roughly 80% of Gaza's population.
