US-Israel War on Iran

Multiple Provinces, IranFebruary 28, 20263,200,000 affectedOngoing

Overview

On February 28, 2026, the United States and Israel launched coordinated military strikes on Iran targeting military and government sites. The conflict rapidly escalated into a full-scale war, with missile and drone attacks affecting multiple provinces across Iran. As of mid-April, at least 3,636 people have been killed — including 1,701 civilians — and over 32,000 injured, according to Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRANA). An estimated 15% of casualties have been children under 18. The UNHCR reports approximately 3.2 million people internally displaced, roughly 60% of them women and children. At least 65 schools and 32 medical facilities have been struck, and over 10,000 civilian sites damaged. The Iranian Red Crescent Society lost four relief workers in the line of duty. The ICRC has delivered 171 metric tonnes of emergency supplies to the Iranian Red Crescent, while the IFRC launched an emergency appeal for the complex emergency. Humanitarian supply chains have been severely disrupted, and aid organizations warn that continued violence is impeding their ability to deliver food and medicine to millions. The conflict has also triggered a broader regional crisis, with over 1 million Lebanese displaced by a concurrent Israeli ground offensive and hundreds of thousands fleeing across borders into neighboring countries.
