Valencia Floods

Valencia Region, , SpainOctober 29, 2024 — December 1, 2024400,000 affected

Overview

In late October 2024, catastrophic flooding struck the Valencia region of Spain, recorded as the country's worst disaster in over three decades. Torrential rains overwhelmed rivers and drainage systems, sending walls of water through towns and villages. Dozens of people lost their lives, and the destruction to homes, businesses, and infrastructure was immense. Entire neighborhoods were buried in mud and debris. GEM Europe, in partnership with Goya Spain, deployed to provide humanitarian relief, while World Central Kitchen activated chef teams to serve hot meals to displaced residents and first responders across the affected region.
