More than a month after heavy rain began, floods are still affecting large parts of Thailand. The Thailand floods have killed 71 people since September 16, according to the Interior Ministry's tally as of October 12, and 21 provinces, including Bangkok, were still flooded on that date.

A deep depression, BOB 07, brought more heavy rain at the end of September. Bangkok received about 320 millimetres of rain in three days in late September, disrupting Suvarnabhumi Airport, and four people died in the capital. In all, flooding has reached 51 provinces, including Prachinburi, one of the worst hit, and Samut Prakan. Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Myanmar were also affected.

The death toll has climbed steadily, from 23 on September 29 to 71 by October 12. Thailand's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported more than 3.13 million people in 1.14 million households affected as of October 8, and Reuters estimated the damage at more than US$320 million.
