Pakistan Monsoon Floods
Overview
Pakistan's 2026 monsoon season began on June 26, bringing heavy rain, flash floods and house collapses to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, Azad Kashmir, Balochistan and the Islamabad–Rawalpindi area of Pakistan.
Between June 26 and September 3, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) recorded 180 deaths and 509 injuries; 82 of the dead were children. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded the most deaths, 74, followed by Punjab with 61, Sindh with 17, Azad Kashmir with 16 and Balochistan with 8. About half of the deaths were caused by house collapses, 17% by drowning and 14% by flash floods.
Authorities warned of fresh floods in early September, but the season's toll was far lower than in 2025, when 1,037 people died in the 2025 monsoon floods.
