A stalled weather system dropped record rain on Florida's central and southeast coast from November 1 to 2, 2026. Preliminary National Weather Service totals reached about 24 inches at Malabar and Grant-Valkaria, 22 inches at West Palm Beach and 20.6 inches at Palm Bay. The NWS issued a Flash Flood Emergency for West Melbourne, Palm Bay and Grant-Valkaria.

Palm Bay police confirmed one death. Brevard County responders helped more than 100 people in rising water, and the state wildlife commission reported more than 60 rescues by airboat and helicopter. Gov. Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency in Brevard, DeSoto, Hardee, Highlands, Indian River, Martin and St. Lucie Counties, and a Red Cross shelter opened in Cocoa. Figures are preliminary, as of November 3.

River flooding is expected to continue, with the St. Johns River near Cocoa forecast to crest near its record around November 5. The flooding follows Hurricane Isaias in October.
