Heavy rain and flash floods hit northern and eastern Syria on October 28–29, 2026, killing at least seven people, five of them children, according to Reuters on October 30. Syria's Emergency and Disaster Management Ministry had first reported five deaths and five people missing.
The floods struck Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, Aleppo and Homs. Civil Defense teams carried out more than 300 emergency operations in response to over 550 calls for help, rescuing people stranded by floodwater and pumping water from homes and public buildings. About 375 families fled displacement camps in Raqqa province.
It is the second major flood in the region this year, after the Euphrates River floods in May. We have not confirmed any of the organizations we track responding to the Syria Flash Floods as of October 30; browse the list of disaster relief organizations for groups that support flood recovery, or see Disaster Relief Organizations for the full directory.
