Overview
Storm Boris caused significant flooding across Central Europe in September 2024, bringing the worst disaster in decades to regions of Czechia and Poland. The storm dumped record rainfall over several days, causing rivers to burst their banks and inundate towns and cities. Many lives were lost and thousands of people were forced from their homes. In Poland, entire neighborhoods were submerged, and critical infrastructure including bridges and roads was destroyed. GEM Europe deployed from their Polish warehouse to provide humanitarian supplies, while international organizations coordinated relief across multiple affected countries.
